We are so thrilled to share the photos from our first Mexico City Workshop with Floweriize. It has always been a dream of mine to travel with flowers and sometimes, when you put things out into the universe, they come true. It was one cold Canadian winter day and I was feeling desperate to escape. I decided to post a story on Instagram saying something along the lines of “Do you live somewhere that is above -40 degrees celsius? Bring me to you and I will teach floral design or work for some Vitamin D.” From this post, Jimena of Floweriize contacted me and thus began the planning of our Mexico City Workshop. Little did I know that this would be the trip of a lifetime and I would make so many unforgettable international connections.
Our workshop began with a lovely breakfast hosted at Rabioso Mx. We then began a centrepiece tutorial where Jimena and I created a piece in front of attendees while discussing our design process, colour choices and flower selection. From there, the group headed to an area filled with lush blooms such as the incredible garden roses from Flore & More where they selected their flowers to create a centrepiece of their own. Once their pieces were finished, guests were able to style personal “still life” setting and have them photographed by The Times We Have.
Following our centrepiece tutorial, attendees enjoyed a lovely lunch and then we began with our bouquet demonstration. Similar to the centrepiece tutorial, Jimena and I both walked through our creative process for making bridal bouquets. Then, attendees were off on their own to design their very own bouquets. Once the bouquets were completed, they were professionally photographed with a model wearing a dress from Atelier Nupcial in front of a fresh spring installation of cherry blossoms.
