I have been meaning to blog this shoot for so long and the time is now. This was definitely one of those spur of the moment things where we had a ton of blooms left from the shop opening and decided why not put them to good use and fulfill my milk bath photoshoot dreams!
You can only imagine the response when I called my mom to ask her to use her bathtub for a photoshoot which involved gallons upon gallons of milk for our milk bath creative. My dear friend Alice from Floralista was in town helping me open the shop and lent her hand for some styling and holding our photographer Shelly Spithoff‘s hand as she leaned over the tub to get the perfect shots.
Modelling is weird (lol) I am still not sure how I feel behind the camera. I feel like we judge ourselves so much when it is us in front of the lens. It definitely makes you feel quite vulnerable especially given the nature of a milk bath shoot.
The big question with these shoots is always how much milk do you use for a milk bath. I feel like used around 6 litres of milk along with some coconut milk powder which made things absolutely opaque. We then emptied 3/4 of the bath to try and get a nice translucent look to show the depth of the arrangements. They both certainly give different looks great for their own reasons.
